Claude Design

Claude Design turns a short brief into editable visual drafts: slide decks, one-pagers, mockups, and graphics. It runs on the Claude seat you already have.

Overview

Claude Design is the visual canvas inside Claude. Instead of returning text, it returns something you can look at and edit: a slide deck, a flyer, a one-pager, an app mockup. You describe what you need and who it is for, and it produces a first draft you can rearrange, restyle, and export. What separates it from asking Claude for content in Chat is that Design holds layout, type, and color as real objects. You can point at a slide and change it, hand it a template or a design system and have it follow those styles, and keep working in the same canvas rather than starting over each time. It is not a separate product or a separate account. Design is a mode on your Claude Enterprise seat, so if you have Claude you already have this, and the same data rules apply. If you do not have Claude yet, the getting-started steps below are the same ones on the Claude page.

Teaching uses

Featured ways to use this tool

01
Build a deck from a rough outline
Paste your talking points and say who is in the room, and get a full deck back with a structure you can rearrange. Faster than fighting a template for an hour, and you edit the result directly rather than starting over.
02
Put together a one-pager for a leadership ask
Describe the ask, the numbers behind it, and who reads it. Design lays it out as a single page you can hand over, with the headline and the data doing the work.
03
Mock up a page or a tool before anyone builds it
Sketch the screens in plain English and get something you can put in front of a team. This is exactly the Prototype & Build tier the governance framework expects you to review before it reaches a real audience.
04
Keep everything on brand
Give Design your template or style guide up front and it follows those styles across every draft, so decks from four different people still look like they came from the same team.
Getting started

How to get started

1
You already have this if you have Claude
  • Design is a mode inside Claude, not a separate product or a separate login. If your Claude Enterprise seat is active, open Claude and it is there. If it is not, the steps below are the same ones on the Claude tool page.
2
Review the governance checklist
  • Take a look at the governance checklist to see the three tiers of AI work at EdPlus and what needs review before it ships. Yellow and red tier projects are submitted on that same page.
3
Sign the acceptable use agreement
4
Submit the ServiceNow request form
5
Open Design
  • Sign in at claude.ai and pick Design when you start a new conversation. The mode is set for the life of that conversation, so start a new chat if you want to switch back.
Install the ASU design system plugin
  • Amanda’s ASU Design System plugin styles what Design produces to EdPlus standards: premium ASU slide decks, one-pagers, and web pages. The plugin file and a training video land there soon.

Claude Design Basics
Watch this before you build your next deck. The session starts from a prompt plus two uploaded PDFs, Claude asks its clarifying questions, and the deck gets refined by drawing directly on the slides and telling it what to move. It ends with a finished, on-brand PDF export. The ASU EdPlus deck, document, and exec-status design systems in the demo are the same ones already saved in our workspace.
